Today’s Scripture: Matthew 11:28, NLT-“Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.””
Jesus told us to come to Him so we too will know the Father and His rest. Like Jesus’ disciples I often find myself asking Jesus to teach me to pray. I do find peace when the words of Jesus ring in my head, “when you pray, pray like this…” (Luke 11:2)
I find rest in praying as Jesus taught us. I ask the Spirit to help me enter prayer with the purpose and intimacy of Christ. The peace I find is what is referred to in Matthew 11:29 as rest for my soul.
When my soul rests in Jesus the cares and concerns of this world lose their sting. At the end of the day I want to be resting with Jesus where Jesus is. I don’t want to be lost in the worries and distractions of life; I want to be where Jesus is. To be there I must go to Him.
Are you coming to Jesus today?
Today’s Prayer: Father of Jesus, thank You for being my Father. I am seeking to know You. I am coming to Jesus now to learn and understand how to know You fully. I desire to know You as Jesus did and to live for You as Jesus did. Thank You Father God for providing Your Son and Your Spirit so we may know You and receive Your rest. I am coming to you with all of my heart, soul, mind, and strength so I may know Your rest for my soul. Grant me Your rest Father God so I may serve You fully. Amen
