Today’s Scripture: and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. Romans 5:5 ESV
I am so thankful that the Holy Spirit, who was given to me, pours God’s love into me. On days I distance myself from God, I am thankful it is the Holy Spirit who pours God’s love into me.
Two verses earlier in Romans 5:3 Paul reminds us to rejoice in our sufferings. I do rejoice in my addictions and my sufferings as they are where I came to know God and experience His love. We are told our sufferings produce endurance that produces character that produces hope.
I can stand on the love and hope I find in my brokenness. I am still broken but I receive a greater love and peace. The hope, love, and peace that have been poured into me are what I want to pour into others. God has overflowed my heart.
What will you do today with the love and hope that has been poured into you?
Today’s Prayer: Father God, thank You for Jesus who makes me right with You. Thank You for Your Holy Spirit who pours Your love into me. Forgive me for my sins and my shortcomings in the flesh. Help me to share with others the love, hope, and peace You pour into me. Your Holy Spirit pours into me whether my sufferings are self-induced or brought on by outside circumstances. In You LORD, I find endurance, hope, love and peace. I am rejoicing in You! Amen
