Today’s Scripture: Acts 7:59, NIV- “While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.””
Our walk with God was never promised to be easy. There is evil in this world today just as there has always been. They lied to get Stephen stoned. When asked about the truth, Stephen simply reminded those judging him who God was. He gave them a history lesson.
The people did not want to hear the truth and they just closed their ears and yelled to prevent themselves from hearing. The cults of that day are not unlike the cults of our days. They name themselves things they are not.
Stephen taught us to stick to who God is. Stephen also taught us we can be filled with the Holy Spirit and look to God and Jesus in heaven. They killed Stephen anyway and yet he cried for God to forgive his killers. Lord, Jesus receive my spirit and grant me Your Spirit.
Will you offer up your spirit to Jesus today?
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for being our Creator and LORD. Thank You for teaching us through Your Word and through, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses and others. Fill me with the Spirit and faith You gave to Stephen and others. Use me Father God to do Your spectacular works. Jesus, please receive my spirit so I may live in Your Spirit. Amen
