Today’s Scripture: 2 Peter 2:22 NLT: They prove the truth of this proverb: “A dog returns to its vomit.” And another says, “A washed pig returns to the mud.”
Are we so different from these people referred to in 2 Peter 2? We know the freedom of Christ; we profess this freedom and yet return to our own mud holes from time to time. 2 Peter 2 has called me back this morning to remind me of my frailty and my freedom.
2 Peter 2:20 says these people had escaped the wickedness of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. However, they became entangled and enslaved by sin again. If we are honest, most of us can slip into our own sins quickly and as promised we are worse off than before.
Yet, when I read 2 Peter 2:22 again this morning, I am filled with praise that I can prove the truth of the grace of Jesus Christ. I can return to the freedom of Christ.
Are you willing to return to the freedom of Christ?
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thank You LORD for saving me from the wickedness of this world. Forgive me LORD for when I return to my vomit or my mud. You LORD know my sins and You LORD know how to keep me in Christ. Help me LORD to stay; to live in the freedom of Christ I profess. Amen
