Today’s Scripture: 1 Corinthians 12:18, KJV- “But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.”
God’s Word said he has set EVERY ONE of us as part of His body as it pleased Him. God is pleased in us when we are living our part. Who are we living to please today?
We must remember and take personally 1 Corinthians 12:7 where we are told “A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.” (NLT) Have you considered the spiritual gift you have been given? You have one. Why do we have it? God’s Word says we have received this gift for the common good that will profit all.
Who are we living to profit today? There is a broader and larger responsibility than most of us find ourselves living. We get so lost in making a profit for our companies and our households that we lose sight of our responsibility to live our spiritual gifts for all others as our part of the body of God.
What God has given us and what pleases Him is most important. Not only for us but for everyone. We have a responsibility to serve our earthly masters but even more so our Heavenly Creator. We, each of us, have been created with a spiritual gift and part to serve all others.
In the heat of the battles of life, it is quite easy to get lost in the next task or crisis that seems most important. However, designed into each of us is a divine responsibility. Whether we know our spiritual gift or not we need to invest in recognizing what sets us apart and what we have that can serve the common good.
We may not have recognized what our part is yet, but we know we are not living a purpose that is specific to us that is for the good of all people. When we spend our days, months, years, and decades living like someone we are not, it is not pleasing to us or God.
Think about 1 Corinthians 12:18 for a moment “God has put each part just where he wants it.” (NLT). Why are you where you are? God has put you where He wants you. What can you do to live your part right where you are right now? What comes naturally to you? Most times what comes easily is viewed as unimportant. This is not true. As 1 Corinthians 12:22 states “In fact, some parts of the body that seem weakest and least important are actually the most necessary.”
You and I are most necessary as we live our parts. We may feel weak at times but in reality, we are where we are to live a huge and vital part in the lives of others. We can help others right where we are. God has put this body together. We must turn our attention away from ourselves and turn our attention to why we are here and what we can do to serve.
As 1 Corinthians 12:26 states “If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.” (NIV) We are here for each other right where we are. We are a part of the pain and joy of others. We do not need to remove the part of others but simply be there with them.
1 Corinthians 12:31 promises that God shows us the “way of life that is best of all.” (NLT) When we live our parts, we live our best life and the best life for all. Will you live your part for God and with His Spirit today?
Today’s Prayer: Father God, thank You for being the one true God. Thank You for loving us and creating us to be a part of Your body. Open our eyes LORD with Your Spirit to see where we can best serve You. Help us to live today faithfully in the knowledge that You have placed us where we are. We are here LORD to serve You and Your body. Grant us the boldness to live our parts today knowing that we are necessary in the lives of others. In the name of Jesus Christ, we do pray. Amen.
