Today’s Scripture: John 14:31, ESV- “but I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Rise, let us go from here.”
Today is a new day. Putting our pasts behind us we can arise today and go with God. From this moment on we can go and be who God, our heavenly Father, commands us to be. Looking back is not fruitful. Getting up and going with God is.
Jesus knew the prince of this world, Satan, had no hold on Him. He has no hold on us either. We all face evil and have even fallen prey to less than godly actions in our lives. However, the more we mature in faith and action the more we learn to walk with God.
As Jesus acknowledged we too can trust that as we do what our Father commands, the world will come to know that we love God. Let us rise and go from here and share the love of our Father. We can fear no evil and only desire to live for our Father.
As John 15:2 promises, God will cut away those parts of our lives that are not producing what He desires for us. As plants do not fear pruning, we can live as a part of God’s vine to fulfill our purpose. As we rise and go with God we will continue to mature and fulfill God’s promise.
Let us remember Jesus’ words in John 15:4, “Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.” (NLT) With Jesus as our teacher, we can trust we are growing in the right direction, and we will be more fruitful.
The prince of this world comes at us constantly, but God alone knows where we are to be. We can welcome pruning and trust we will produce a bountiful harvest with God. As Jesus warned us in John 15:5, apart from Him we can do nothing. The ruler of this world can keep us terribly busy producing nothing for eternal glory. Earthly rewards are meaningless while eternal fruits are bountiful.
Prune us LORD, teach us Lord Jesus to go and be who You created us to be. Jesus instructs us in John 15:7, “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” (NKJV) Let us ask for the desires of God to be our desires so that we are fruitful and multiply the love and promises of our heavenly Father.
As Jesus promised us in John 15:11, with His joy in us, our joy will be complete.
Are we going towards God’s love and joy today?
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for loving us. Thank You for pruning and caring for us so we can be more fruitful and show the world that we love You. Thank You for the example and teaching of Jesus Christ. Thank You Jesus for Your love for us, help us to live in Your love today. Keep us aware of Your commands so that we remain in You. Thank You Jesus for sharing Your joy with us so that our joy is complete. In the joyful name of Jesus Christ, we do pray to be fruitful for our heavenly Father. Amen.
