Today’s Scripture: Psalm 31:14, NKJV- “But as for me, I trust in You, O LORD; I say, “You are my God.””
David felt that fears were surrounding him, but he knew where to turn and take refuge. You and I can do the same. Regardless of what each of us are surrounded by today, God is our safe place.
Nestled into the hand of God we are secure. From God’s hand we can look towards the light of His face that is shining upon us. In the glow of God’s light, we feel His unfailing love.
As we call out to our God, we come to know Him and His steadfast love for us. We come to know we are His and He is ours. We have no other gods before Him and He puts no one before us. We can be intimately close to the all-powerful, all-knowing God, the Creator of all things. This is as real of a relationship as we can have.
At times we may feel, as David here in Psalm 31, that we are weary and under siege. Yet, God hears us, and He is protecting us. God is fighting our battles against those who speak lies and contempt upon His people. God knows the hearts and intentions of all of us.
God feels our hearts as we proclaim that He is our God, and we are His. I love how David expresses that we find the goodness of God hidden in the secret place of His presence. (KJB) This is a secret and private place where we are alone with God, resting in His presence, where we confess to Him, LORD, You are my God. It is here in this secret place where we find peace, power, and safety in the presence of our almighty God.
Psalm 31:21 brings a smile to my face and joy to my heart knowing that we can praise our LORD for the wonders of His love and His marvelous kindness. As we praise our LORD, He welcomes us into His secret place. Our LORD hears our cries for mercy when we call on Him for help. Our God also hears our expressions of love towards Him. He knows our love and we know His. As David experienced in Psalm 31:24, when we put our hope in our LORD, He grants us good courage and strengthens our hearts.
Will you put your hope in your LORD and confess to Him that He is Your God now?
Today’s prayer: Father God, I rejoice in You and confess You are my God. I come to You with my praises and my afflictions. Thank You for welcoming us into the secret place of Your presence. Thank You for hearing our cries and for welcoming us into Your shelter. You are my God, and I am Yours, I commit my spirit into Your hand now. I love You LORD. Amen.
