Today’s Scripture: Luke 2:10, NLT- “but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people.”
We can now bring the great joy we have found in Jesus Christ to all people. To meet all people, it takes all of us. Jesus meets us where we are so we can bring Him to others who are in a similar place. You and I have lived in different places, and we can reach different people.
When we find Jesus in our lives, we can speak best to those who are living a life we once lived. Depending on our personal hurts, habits, and hangups when we received the good news of Jesus Christ, this gives us a personal and unique connection to those who are walking a path we once traveled.
The New King James Version of Luke 2:8 states that the shepherds, which is plural, were “living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night.” In the next verse Luke 2:9 we are told that “And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid.” The angel and the glory of the Lord began shining on them right where they were.
God does meet us where we are. We too may have been terrified or greatly afraid when an angel of the Lord came to us. But as Luke 2:10 states, where we found Jesus was not only intended for us. “Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.” (NKJV)
Many times, over the years, I have witnessed God’s timing in recovery and in life where our presence was no accident. Many times, our mere attendance and faithfulness to be in the right place at the right time we find someone shows up who is greatly afraid yet needs our good news of great joy. You and I are God’s plan. We are vessels of His Good news and joy for all people.
When we tell others of how God or an angel of God showed up in our lives to bring us the good news and great joy, we offer hope of great joy to all people. I have been reminded over and over that there is a great possibility that what have experienced or what we are doing is not about us at all. We very well may have been living in a place that only helped us to bring the good news and great joy to someone else.
In Luke 2:11, the angel of the Lord was speaking directly to these shepherds living in the field.
“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.” (KJB) Christ was born for you and me. We have received this savior so we can bring Him to all others. The shepherds were still shepherds when they went to see the baby Jesus laying in the manger.
We will still be who we were when we received the good news. Only now we are armed with our Savior Jesus Christ and the joy we have found in Him. We must share this joy wherever we travel today. We do not need to be afraid of who we once were, in fact, who we were and who we are now are good tidings of great joy we must share. Will you share your joy today?
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for sending us Your angels who helped us hear and experience the light of Your glory and our Savior Jesus Christ. Send us Father God to those we can share the Good News of Jesus Christ and bring Your joy to all people. Thank You LORD for removing our fear and granting us the privilege of sharing Your Good News and joy with all others. Amen.
