Today’s Scripture: Luke 1:3, NIV- “With this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus,”
The first scripture I went to this morning was Proverbs 16:9 which states “A man’s heart plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps.” I have now scheduled time in my calendar to reflect and plan. In my first sixty-three years of life, I have done extraordinarily little planning.
I have been reactionary most of my life instead of intentional, However, one thing I have “planned” is to go back through my original Affirmations of God posts and provide an orderly, chronological, and step-by-step account for you. I do not do this because I am impressed with my writing or that I even love to write. I have gone through this process because I want others to experience what I have experienced.
I am thankful that Luke wrote his orderly account of his experiences with Jesus so we could know Jesus too. I have experienced God’s love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. I have learned that the fruits of God’s Spirit listed in Galatians 5:22-23 are to be our fruits.
In walking with God and His Spirit through His Word I almost explode with thanksgiving. This joy and gratefulness are all I want to share. After years of knowing about God, I have come to know Him. I am recounting where He has brought me so others too may know Him. My account is intended only to be a tool for someone to come and know the love of God as I have.
God has proven to me that He can direct our steps even when we have no plan. I am thankful that God has directed me to many supportive friends over the years. I am praying to be as much of a source of encouragement to others as others have been to me. As directed in 2 Corinthians 1:4, I am praying to comfort others with the comfort I have received from God.
I am giving all glory to God for His steps for each of us. My greatest desire is to do what God desires. My next greatest desire is that you experience what I have experienced in God so that you are encouraged to do as God desires for you. His commandments and Word guide our steps and hearts. I still make plenty of missteps but have experienced Romans 8:1-2 which promised “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.” (KJB)
This is the bottom line; I desire for you and all others to know the freedom of Christ Jesus. I am thankful for you who have taken these steps with me. May you live in the freedom, love, and grace of Jesus Christ.
Today’s Prayer: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. Use us LORD for Your glory and purposes. May we all come to know You and feed Your sheep. Amen.
