Today’s Scripture: Ezekiel 3:22, KJB- “And the hand of the LORD was there upon me; and he said unto me, Arise, go forth into the plain, and I will there talk with thee.”
It is wonderful to know that when we have tough decisions to make that we can still walk and talk with God. God does speak with amazing regularity and clarity when we go to His Word to see what He says to His people. However, we are still a rebellious people as God referred to the Israelites throughout Ezekiel. We continue to be hard-headed and hard-hearted as God mentions in Ezekiel 3:7. (Berean Study Bible)
LORD, please soften our heads and hearts and walk and talk to us. God, please tie us up so we cannot turn from one side or another until we finish Your work as You spoke in Ezekiel 4:8. We ask for forgiveness for our adulterous hearts, which have turned away from You, and by our eyes, which have lusted after idols as referred to in Ezekiel 6:9.
God will be the judge of our conduct and our practices. We still have consequences for our decisions and actions. Thankfully, God also continues to be our source of joy and our daily bread. God continues to fill us with His radiance and glory. God still sends angels into our lives.
The LORD is intimately aware of whether we are keeping His laws or if we are conforming to the standards of the nations around us as He stated in Ezekiel 11:12. God knows what is going through our hearts and minds and He still gathers us and brings us back to Him. As God promised in Ezekiel 11:19 “I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.” (NIV) God is our heart.
Although our lives may be scattered at times, like the Israelites, we still return to a place of knowing that God is LORD of all. As Ezekiel 13:2 promises, we can “Hear the word of the LORD!” We must be careful not to follow our own spirits but to follow the Spirit of the LORD.
God is still in the business of tearing down walls. Walls of our own making and those the nations have built. God still recaptures the hearts of His people as He promised in Ezekiel 14:5. We must only turn away from our evil ways and He will save us and use us to save lives.
It is God who creates perfect beauty in us as He did in Ezekiel 16:13-14. We must be careful to only offer our beauty to the LORD and not give it up to the standards of this world. These verses in Ezekiel are graphic and hard hitting and may not give us the answers we want. However, these verses remind us we will only find satisfaction in our LORD.
Thankfully, God still remembers His everlasting covenant with us as promised in Ezekiel 16:60. We must love God and be faithful to His oaths and covenants. As we live with the LORD, He gives us a new heart and spirit. He also provides the words needed to talk with us and guide us through life’s journeys.
I am thankful the LORD searches us out and looks after us. As Ezekiel 34:12 states, the LORD rescues us from the places we have scattered. I am thankful for Ezekiel 36:36 that promises that God rebuilds and replants us.
As the dry bones in Ezekiel 37:5 I am thankful that the LORD breathes life into us so we may live for Him. Thank You LORD for pouring Your Spirit upon us as You promised in Ezekiel 39:29. We can be thankful for the hand of the LORD that takes us where He wants us as He did in Ezekiel 40:1. We can trust that the glory of the LORD will fill the places he moves us to as He did with the temple in Ezekiel 43:5.
We are the temple of God, and like the temple built in Ezekiel’s day, we continue to hear His voice from within. As we walk through God’s Word, He talks with us. Will you take a walk with God today?
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for continuing to walk and talk with us. Thank You for Your Word and everlasting covenants with us. Soften our heads and hearts Father God so that we may know You and Your will for us. Move us to where You desire for us to serve You best. Please tie us down so we do not turn away from You and Your Word. Thank You LORD for talking with us today. Amen.
