Today’s Scripture: Luke 17:14, HCSB- When He saw them, He told them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And while they were going, they were healed.
“Jesus, Master, have mercy on us” was the cry of ten people with leprosy in Luke 17:13. It was impressed upon me that it does not say Jesus healed them and then told them to go and show themselves to the priests.
This passage says they were cleansed “while they were going” or “as they went” depending on the translation. To be on their way they had to go first. Do we wait to be healed and find mercy before we go? So often, we think we must be fixed or healed before we can go and do.
However, the power, cleansing, and healing of Jesus is found as we are going where He is telling us to go. We can ignore the lies we have been told or simply believe that we must wait until all conditions and ourselves are perfect. We will never be perfect but as we walk with our perfect LORD, we find healing and cleansing.
Just a few verses earlier Luke 17:5, the apostles of Jesus asked Him, “Lord, increase our faith.” We can also ask Jesus now to increase our faith. Armed with any faith we have, even as small as a mustard seed, we will experience the miracle of Jesus’ healing.
We must be thankful every day. I was just reminded yesterday of the original prayer that brought me back to the feet of Jesus. “Lord, thank You for keeping me sober yesterday, and please keep me sober today.” If I had not gone to that AA meeting, I may not have found the healing process of Jesus I still experience to this day.
We read in Luke 17:15-16 that only one of the ten returned, praising God with a loud voice to fall on his face before Jesus and thank Him. We too can go now and remember to fall on our face before Jesus and thank Him for cleansing and healing us. We should always remember to praise God with our voices and glorify Him for our healing. Will you go now?
Today’s Prayer: Jesus, You are my Master and You only will I serve. Lord increase my faith and help me to be faithful in all things. God, I am glorifying and praising You for the healing and cleansing You have provided me. I am praying others hear my praises to You. I am rising and going with the little faith I have and trusting that You will make us all well. Thank You Jesus for showing us the way to go and for cleansing and healing us as we go. Amen.
