Today’s Scripture: 2 Thessalonians 2:16, NLT- “Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope,”
Paul knew lawlessness and we know lawlessness. Humanity separated from God creates lawlessness. This is not new. This has been going on since the beginning. When we choose our desires over God’s laws, we live in lawlessness that creates chaos personally and societally.
For reasons we cannot understand, in 2 Thessalonians 2:10-11, Paul tells us God deceives and sends delusion to those who refuse to love the truth and be saved. I am thankful I can affirm that I love the truth. I am thankful for God the Father, the Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit Who have sent me comfort and hope.
Although the divide seems greater than ever in our day, evil has always been evil, and lawfulness has always been lawfulness. I do not know why God sends delusion into the world, but I also know He sends an everlasting and eternal comfort with a wonderful hope. As we face life and the struggles that come with living in community, it is powerful to be able to look beyond the current environment and trust in God’s comfort and hope.
Although their convictions are strong and real, there are those who choose to believe the lies of Godlessness. Godlessness creates lawlessness and hopelessness. This must be delusional for those who chose misery and the promotions of making all others miserable. Where is the hope, what is the goal?
Paul tells us all this delusion is preparing the way for the coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The choice is more and more obvious. Love and lawfulness become obvious the more we witness lawlessness and wickedness. Please open all our eyes dear LORD to Your laws so that we may all see Jesus and His grace for us so we may all be saved.
Delusion causes sincere lawlessness. We can pray that the Holy Spirit works in all peoples to see the comfort and hope of God. Right now, right here, with whatever we are facing or believing there is a hope beyond this moment that is everlasting and eternal. There is a good hope that is wonderful. I am praying that the Lord Jesus Christ is glorified even in the delusion of lawlessness.
The contrast and the result of lawlessness brings the light of Jesus into a very dark world. We can refuse the common acceptance of lawlessness and stand on the time-tested and eternal nature of God’s laws. Satan is at work and as 2 Thessalonians 2:6 states, he uses power, signs, and lying wonders. Satan deceives those who refuse to love the truth.
We can choose to love the truth right now. In the truth of God the Father and His son Jesus Christ we find truth, comfort, and hope. What will you choose today?
Today’s Prayer: God, I will always thank You. I will always love Your truth. LORD, please help me to keep Your laws and love. I am thankful Father God for the everlasting and eternal comfort You offer to us and in Your wonderful hope do I hope. Thank You for calling us through Your gospel, that we might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Help us LORD to stand firm and hold fast to the teachings both written and spoken to us. Thank You Jesus for Your grace that has given us eternal encouragement and a wonderful hope. Amen.
