Today’s Scripture: Exodus 3:14, NKJV- “And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’””
When God called out to Moses from the burning bush, Moses said “here I am.” God told Moses He had heard the prayers of the Israelites in slavery in Egypt and instructed Moses to go to Pharoah. Moses said, “Who am I”?
Who are we? We have been called to the land we find ourselves in today. As we think back over our lives, I am sure we have moments that we know that only God could have been in that moment. We may not have considered, at the time, that we were standing on holy ground.
God, here I am. Thank You LORD for listening to our prayers. God said He heard the cries of the Israelites and He said He knew their sorrows. He knows ours as well. Moses never dreamed or even wanted this calling. We may be in a comparable situation. However, even if we know, without a doubt, what we are called to do we still have doubts in ourselves.
We also say, “who am I?” In Exodus 4:1, NKJV- “Then Moses answered and said, “But suppose they will not believe me or listen to my voice; suppose they say, ‘The LORD has not appeared to you.’”” Moses and we are too worried about what others may think or say. Sadly, in today’s world most will not believe or listen to us. However, we must look to and trust the great I AM.
God gave Moses credibility with his staff and other miracles. He has armed us with the credibility of our testimonies of the miracles of how God has showed up in our lives. People may or may not believe us either. We may produce excuses as Moses did. God stated an incredible reminder in Exodus 4:11, NIV- “The LORD said to him, “Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the LORD?”
God made us and knows us. We are not shocking him with any of our strengths or weaknesses. He created us for a day such as this. He made us to accept our mission. Sometimes we go kicking and screaming but we will go. Even Moses in Exodus 4:13- ““Pardon your servant, Lord. Please send someone else.” (NIV) There is no one else for what God has created and called us to do.
We must ignore our voices of doubt, both internal and external. This is not our mission this is the mission where I AM WHO I AM has sent you. You are who you are because of I AM. God will guide us and even bring us our Aaron who God remarkably told Moses in Exodus 4:14 that “He is already on his way to meet you, and he will be glad to see you.”
God already has our help on their way. He made us all and He made our purpose. We can say I am who I am because the Great I AM made us and He has sent us. We should see who we are in God and not in the opinions of others or even ourselves. We can look for God in our circumstances and experiences as there are many in slavery waiting for us.
Will you be who God created you to be and accept His call?
Today’s Prayer: Almighty heavenly Father, the great I AM WHO I AM. Thank You for speaking through our personal burning bush experiences. Help us to recognize and hear Your call in these moments. Thank You LORD for welcoming us onto holy ground. Grant us Your miracles and Your helpers to complete our freedom missions for others. Grant us the courage and faith to accept your calling. We accept that we are not enough without You. Armed with Your power and miracles we are moving forward and trusting Your call on our lives. Amen.
