Today’s Affirmation: 1 Corinthians 15:31, NKJV- “I affirm, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.”
Paul faced trials and tribulations that brought him close to physical death. Like us, Paul also had to overcome some of his prior actions and beliefs. You and I may not face the same physical risks, yet for us to change our world and this world parts of us must die.
To reach our full potential and be who God created us to be we must first lose some of the habits, fears, and desires that God did not intend for us. We must change our perspectives and actions to live out who we are to be. The only way to truly live is to first die. Paul instructed the church that without death we cannot rise.
The entire Christian church is founded upon the death and resurrection of Jesus. Without the death there could be no resurrection. It is the same with us. Paul shared in 1 Corinthians 15:37-38 that God will complete the seeds that we plant. Not all of us are the same but we must all be raised in the spiritual life God has intended for us.
This scripture brought me to an affirmation of “I die daily”. I am who I am when I die to the comfort zone of my flesh to rise again in the Spirit. It is a razor thin line of standing on who I am while losing who I am.
Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 15:10 that “by the grace of God I am what I am.”
At what point in each of our lives do we tire of only living for ourselves. For me, it was at the bottom of a deep valley of deceit, addiction, and brokenness. Only when I died from those things did I truly find God’s life for me. I previously chased after the desires and goals of others like they were mine. I was concerned with impressing others who did not even know me or live a life I did not even want. I still have fears and habits that must die so I will live to fulfill the promise of God.
I thank God today as I die for Him. God help me to die to all things keeping me from living the life You have planned for me. Crucify my flesh so I may be raised up in Your Spirit today.
- What needs to die in you?
- Have you experienced the life found in Spiritual birth?
Today’s Prayer: LORD, thank You for Your servants that help to instruct us with Your intentions. We thank You Father God for the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Thank You for planting Your seeds in us. Help us to die to our old selves so we raise up to be who You desire us to be. Nurture us LORD and fill us with Your Holy Spirit so we serve You and glorify You with our lives. Amen.
