Today’s Scripture: 1 Corinthians 6:14, NKJV- “And God both raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by His power.”
Paul covers a lot of ground and steps on a lot of toes in 1 Corinthians. When we are called by God, cleansed by Jesus Christ, and raised up by the Holy Spirit, we are to live as God has called us to live. We are not supposed to continue to live like unbelievers.
The ways of this world are not the ways of God. Having said that, we are no more able to save ourselves than we are able to live in line with God without His power. We are human after all. In 1 Corinthians 6, Paul calls out sexually immorality, ungodly judgement, wrong doing, cheating, and idolatry.
Most of us are called out, aren’t we? We do not possess the self-control to avoid our sinful nature. However what we do possess, once we believe, is the same power that God used to raise the Lord Jesus Christ. This same Holy Spirit and power of God is what saves us and continues to lift us up. Today and every day.
We can be honest with God. I would rather be found guilty by God and confess that I need His power to be free. I cannot free myself and most of us do not have the self-control to remain free. However, we can turn to God and His power without ceasing. We must include God and His power in every decision and action we take.
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Paul covers many actions of humankind that keep us from inheriting the kingdom of God of which most of us are guilty. However, Paul reminds us that God can use the same power to raise us. So, let us turn to the power of God and rely on the power of God. We can confess our need for God and His power, and our God is faithful.
Not everything we do in the flesh is wrong, yet as Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 6:12 that not everything we do is beneficial or lawful. We must be sure that we are only mastered by God. Our flesh and desires try their best to master us. However we can turn and confess our weaknesses to God and ask for His power to raise us up.
Will you ask God and His power to raise you up to be mastered only by Him?
Today’s Prayer: Dear LORD, thank You for Your Power that raised Jesus from the dead. Please use Your power to raise me up from a dead life. Raise me Father to live committed to You. Raise me Father to glorify You. Raise me up to use the gifts You have given me where You have me. I confess that I need You and Your power to live as You would have me live. Thank You for Jesus and Your Word that guide me. Amen.
