Today’s Scripture: Romans 12:12, ESV- “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.”
At times we must marinate and soak in the essence of God’s Word. I have found that the LORD has endless ways of getting us to exactly where He desires us to be.
After hearing a sermon on Romans 12:11-12 this past Sunday, I keep feeling the urge to return to glean something more about how we are to be fervent in spirit. Slothfulness in business and in our spiritual life can present us with hopeless situations.
I am thankful that the Holy Spirit can provide fervor when we have none. Just as the Holy Spirit prays for us when we do not know what to pray as Paul promised earlier in Romans 8:26, the Holy Spirit also lights the fires of hope. If we are struggling to find hope in the flesh and in our tribulations, through prayer we welcome the hope and fervor of the Holy Spirit.
Let us marinate and set our minds on things of the Spirit as Paul instructed us in Romans 8:5. As we set our minds on the Word of God, we are taught how to overcome evil with good as promised in Romans 12:21. We can trust the Spirit over our feelings and current understandings. Although we may be wrong, the Spirit of God, the desires of God are never wrong.
Amid our fleshly tribulations, we can seek God and be constantly in prayer. In these prayers the Holy Spirit can shock us into rejoicing. The Spirit of God always brings us back to love and hope. Regardless of the stresses of the day and momentary challenges of this world, we can always do what is right according to the Spirit of God’s commands. We can rejoice in the hope of our God.
Today’s Prayer: Father God, I am rejoicing in Your Hope. Thank You LORD for Your Holy Spirit and Your Holy Scriptures that guide us. Thank You Father God for allowing us to pray to You without ceasing. Thank You LORD for guiding us to Your good and Your desires. Guide us LORD with Your Spirit to fulfill Your law of love. Help us to share Your hope so more and more people may rejoice in Your hope. In the saving grace and love of Jesus Christ, we do rejoice and pray. Amen.
