Today’s Scripture: Ephesians 2:13, NLT- “But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ.”
Most of us have been far away from God at times in our lives. But thanks be to God for the blood of Jesus Christ that brings us near to God. Not what we have done but what Christ has done.
We can praise God as Paul did in Ephesians 1:3 because God has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in Jesus Christ. We have all the spiritual blessings of our God in heaven available to us through Jesus. Like Paul in Ephesians 1:17, I am asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give us the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that we may know Him better.
With the Holy Spirit of God within us we have been brought remarkably near to God. So near that Paul prays in Ephesians 1:18 that the eyes of our hearts be opened so we may know the hope of God’s calling on our lives. The incredible greatness of God is alive in us as we believe in Him.
As part of God’s body, He fills us. He is not far off but very very near. Inside of each of us. Because of God’s great love for us He has made us alive in Christ Jesus. Alive with the Spirit of God. By the grace of God, we have been saved and brought near. We can show kindness because of the kindness God has given to us in Jesus.
God has gifted us with grace so that we can give His grace. As Ephesians 2:10 promises, we are God’s handiwork created in Christ Jesus so we can do good works. “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.” Ephesians 2:13 NIV.
As Ephesians 2;18 promises we now have access to God by the one Spirit of God. We are joined together with God in His Spirit and that is very close indeed. Ephesians 2:22 promises that we have been built to be a dwelling place of God’s Spirit.
We need not look or reach to any other place for God. His Spirit dwells within us. In the silence and calm of being alone with the Father we can seek to see Him and communicate with Him with the eyes and voices of our hearts. As Paul mentions of himself in Ephesians 3:3, God also has a mysterious plan for you and me.
God reveals Himself through His Spirit in us. As Ephesians 3:6 promises we are sharers in the promise of Christ Jesus. We must only share what has been brought near to us through the Spirit of God. We can serve God best but sharing the power of His Spirit in us.
Although we may feel like Paul in Ephesians 3:8, that we are the least deserving to serve God, His Spirit within us will share the unsearchable riches of Christ. We have the riches of Christ within us. Will we share His Spirit today?
Today’s Prayer: Almighty God, thank You for drawing near to us through the blood of Jesus Christ. Thank You LORD for making us a dwelling place for Your One true Spirit. I am praying Your power and kindness will radiate from Your Spirit within us so others too may know the riches of Christ that have been brought near to us so we may live and love in Your ways. Open the eyes of our hearts so we may know and share You. Amen.
