Today’s Scripture: Psalm 31:1, NKJV- “To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. In You, O LORD, I put my trust; Let me never be ashamed; Deliver me in Your righteousness.”
In Psalm 31 David is in trouble. People were out to kill him. So, maybe our issues are not quite as urgent but we can certainly learn from David. Where did he turn? In Psalm 31:1 David states clearly:In You, O LORD, I put my trust; The Message translation states: “I run to you, God; I run for dear life. Don’t let me down!”
In Psalm 31:2 David asks God to listen to him and give him a place of protection: “Turn your ear to listen to me; rescue me quickly. Be my rock of protection, a fortress where I will be safe.” (NLT) David knows he has no other hope.
In verse Psalm 31:5 he tells God He is committing his spirit to him. He is giving himself to God: “Into Your hand I commit my spirit; You have redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.” (NKJV)
David admits he is in trouble and needs the Lord in Psalm 31:9: “Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am in distress. Tears blur my eyes. My body and soul are withering away.” (NLT)
Whatever we are facing today, Like David, we can cry out to God. In Psalm 31:14 David states: “But as for me, I trust in You, O LORD; I say, “You are my God.” (NKJ).There is no need for anything else. Are you facing anything today where you must remind yourself to turn your trust to God and say to Him You are my God?
He will receive your spirit and be your rock.
Today’s Prayer: In You, O LORD, I am putting my trust. You are my LORD, my rock, and my refuge. In You I trust over all things. I confess my need for you LORD. You know the adversities of my soul. Without You, I am lost and in distress. Help me LORD to live in Your refuge and seek You in all things. In You, I do trust. I am hiding in the secret place of Your presence. Thank You, LORD, for the wonders of Your love. My hope is in You. Amen.
