Today’s Scripture: Proverbs 2:2, NKJV- “So that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding;”
God teaches us how to listen. We learn to lean in and incline our ear and apply our hearts. Listening with our heart in an acquired skill or developed recognition. God is Spirit and when we lift our voices to Him for understanding, He responds to our spirits with the Holy Spirit. God provides the understanding He intends.
We must apply ourselves, our whole selves to receive God. I often wonder if this is why Jesus made it a practice to go, well before daylight, to be alone with God. As we separate ourselves from the noise of life, we are more likely to hear God and apply our hearts.
As we lay our hearts, eyes, hears, and senses wide open before the LORD, God gives us our daily bread of insight. As we still ourselves the still small voices make impressions upon our hearts. I am in awe of how God takes the combination of prayer and bible reading to apply our hearts.
When we make our hearts available in prayer and read the Words of God, God does reveal Himself. We can use and apply our hearts and begin to understand what He desires for us to understand.
God gives us wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. He keeps us on the good path when we apply ourselves. Will you apply your heart to understanding?
Today’s Prayer: Father God, teach us to listen. Teach us to apply our hearts to understanding. We are listening LORD. Please reveal Your understanding to us. Heavenly Father, I am lifting my voice to You now for understanding. Fill my spirit, LORD, with the understanding You intend. Grant me the spiritual ears and heart to hear You. I trust You Father and welcome Your understanding into my heart. Thank You for Your Word who reveals You and reveals understanding to us. Apply my heart LORD as I give it to You. I trust Your will be done. Amen
