Today’s Scripture: 2 Corinthians 7:4, KJB- “Great is my boldness of speech toward you, great is my glorying of you: I am filled with comfort, I am exceeding joyful in all our tribulation.”
In 2 Corinthians 6:18, Paul tells us that the Lord Almighty said that He would be our Father and we will be His sons and daughters. Because of this and this alone we may be filled with comfort.
Following this promise, in 2 Corinthians 7 Paul proceeds to show he knows we are still works in progress. Just because we are children of the Lord Almighty, does not mean we do not have filthiness in our flesh and spirits. The Good News is that are being purified from everything that contaminates us.
We are not holy, but out of reverence and fear of our Lord, Paul says in 2 Corinthians 7:1 holiness is being perfected in us. Paul was not condemning the Corinthians but encouraging them. Just a few verses later in 2 Corinthians 7:4 Paul shares that he can encourage us because he himself is encouraged.
Like Paul, regardless of our troubles and afflictions, we can be overflowing with joy because the Lord is our Father. The King James Bible states this as “filled with comfort.”
I can feel the Lord’s comfort, can you?
Today’s Prayer: Thank You Father God for being our God for inviting us to be Your sons and daughters. I am accepting Your Fatherhood and Your ways. Lord Almighty, please continue to purify me of the filthiness of my flesh and spirit. Thank You for perfecting holiness in me. All my hope, confidence, and trust are in You and Your power. I am in awe and fear of You alone. Thank You LORD for the joy and comfort I have in You. Amen.
